When I saw pictures of this a couple of years ago it went straight onto my ‘must see’ list and considering it is in Duisburg, which is only half an hour away from my parents’ house in Germany, it clearly was only a matter of time.

Well, I was in Germany again last weekend and finally made it and it is AMAZING!! This walkable roller coaster is the work of artists Heike Mutter und Ulrich Genth and is built on a mount of rubble dug up by local coal mines (of which there were plenty).

Thankfully it was a miserable day so no-one was around and we had it almost all to ourselves!!

I know, this is two Museums of the Month in just one day but I just have to tell you about the Wellcome Collection, or how they put it, The free destination for the incurably curious.

It helps that it’s just around the corner from where I live but the Wellcome Collection has yet to disappoint me with any of the exhibitions they’ve put on. I just went to see the incredible Souzou: Outsider Art from Japan, an exhibition of work by artists with mental illness or mental handicaps.

The above is by Kenichi YAMAZAKI who has been hospitalized for almost 30 years after developing a psychiatric illness while working on construction sites in Tokyo. His drawings look a bit like engineering plans with immaculate detailing. Apparently he now has over 3000 pieces of art.

The exhibition runs until the 30th of June so hurry up, you really don’t want to miss this!! While you’re there, check out their permanent collection too.

I don’t think I can ever visit Germany without eating a Currywurst at least twice!! And when it’s organic and served out of a beautiful refurbished Airstream caravan it’s got to be a winner.

I saw this in Cologne during their annual furniture fair and to my surprise Benbergs Benys is run by an old friend. I think if I ever need a career change I might possibly consider getting myself a mobile Currywurst Stall. The only problem with that is that I’d probably eat all the stock.

I was hugely privileged to be asked by the British Council to be part of their Design Explore Program which they ran in Marrakesh just a few weeks ago. Design Explore was a two week course which aims to offer 10 young, aspiring Moroccan designers a chance to develop their skills and knowledge of contemporary product design and to explore ideas of cultural identity.

And what a great bunch of designers they were, truly amazing. Watch this space for more info on them and the results.

Shops don’t get much more exciting than the fabulous Home Store set up by Alastair Hendy. The immaculate restoration of a three-storey Georgian townhouse in Hasting’s Old Town now houses a shop of everyday essentials like brushes, candles, ceramics and glassware as well as a carefully selected range of vintage items. It also has a restaurant which I hear is pretty good.

This has got to be one of my all time favourite shops EVER!!!

We are HUGELY excited that this year we have been invited to Pop-Up Shop at the fabulous Somerset House right here in the heart of London.

The entire newly refurbished West Wing has been transformed into The Christmas Arcade where you can find a wide range of fantastic goodies, from fine hats by Christy’s London (I’ve already tried on a few myself), tasty sweets with a story by Hoxton Street Monster Supplies to exceptional British Menswear by Your Sample Collective and many more ….oh and US of course!!!!

The Christmas Arcade is now open daily from 11.00 – 21.00 (Fridays and Saturdays until 22.00) until the 6th of January.

When I was in Poland recently I was so happy to see some K67 Kiosks. I was introduced to them a few years ago on a trip to Slovenia.

The K67 Kiosk was designed in 1966 by the Slovenian architect and designer Saša J. Mächtig.

Its system is based on polyfibre reinforced modules which can be used as single units or combined to larger units.

I saw this amazing set of mosaics on a 1970′s East German office block in Potsdam recently. It’s called ‘Man conquers Space’ (Der Mensch bezwingt den Kosmos) by artist Fritz Eisel. You really can’t get much more Socialist than that.
